Middlebury Special Collections

With a history spanning across more than two centuries, Middlebury College is a unique institution, among the most highly regarded liberal arts colleges, with a reach extending from our main campus in Vermont's Champlain Valley to specialized and graduate programs located around the world.

Special Collections at the Middlebury College Library serves as a research laboratory for both the Middlebury community and independent scholars.  We welcome researchers to explore our collections of rare books, archives, manuscripts, photographs, audio and video recordings, and other rare and unique materials that tell the story of our collective past.

Our collections are broad in scope and cover a variety of media and realia.  As part of our firm commitment to open research and scholarship, we are dedicated to sharing digitized and born-digital archival materials in our collections to whatever extent practicable, and are excited to present these items from our collections via the Internet Archive.
